​​TURNING BACK THE DOOMDAY CLOCK

Population growth on Earth has reached almost 8 billion and is projected to grow to 9 to 10 billion by mid-century and now beginning to exceed it carrying capacity.
​
The result is evolving ecological and social degradation, which is causing increased industrial and community waste, air, pollution, water shortages and land pollution, impacting food production and increased density of population and crime, particularly in densely populated urban environs.
The growth is impacting public health and creating warming temperatures making disease impacts significantly more intense. Warming temperatures are also creating longer and hotter heat waves, droughts and powerful storms and wildfire conditions. And INCREASED GLOBAL MIGRATION.

Productions.
All of these conditions have been the focus of the documentary productions created by Jim Thebaut's production companies including the Chronicles Group throughout the latter 20th and into the 21st century.. This included the global water crisis in Running Dry, which included filming in China, India, Africa and elsewhere, focused on drought and water scarcity on the Colorado River in the America Southwest: Are We Running Dry?, Food and Water Security in the California's Central Valley in both documentaries Beyond the Brink and A Matter of National Security and the critical importance of watersheds in the 30 min 2019 California's Watershed and 1 hour 2022-23 California's watershed Healing documentaries.
In addition, created the two-hour Cold War and Beyond documentary in the early 2000 which presented the reality and evolution of nuclear weapons which has been an ongoing threat to the survival of civilization.

In the 80s and 90 productions focused on social degradation, true crime and the Criminal Justice system with the productions of A Deadly Business, The Iceman Tapes: Conversation with a Killer, Execution at Midnight and Bad Cops

Realities
Evolving population growth, ecological impacts and increasing geopolitical tensions are causing war and deadly conditions throughout the planet.

Michael Wirth Chevron's CEO indicated recently on CNN the continuing of evolving demand for fossil fuels will continue to be a reality because global decisionmakers and the World's population demand it

SOLUTIONS NEED TO INCLUDE:
1. Creating global set of humanitarian and ecological rules to survive by
2. All educational institutions across the world must teach ecology at all levels which includes the rereading of Silent Spring
3. Geological priority focus must be on the survival of the worlds Indigenous population, including climate and environmental impacts
4. Eliminate military Intensions across the world and eliminate all nuclear weapons.
5. Leadership throughout the planet must focus specifically on reducing anger and tensions among all populations

Cold War And Beyond

This rapidly evolving demise of California’s Watershed is a microcosm of the global consequences of climate change.   As global shortages of water – and its resulting shortage of food and energy – become apparent, the critical ramifications on the social fabric and our national security become obvious.  As the documentary states, developing scientific and technological solutions must be an immediate priority. Furthermore, the debate over anthropomorphic warming is over. Steps need to be taken to reduce man made greenhouse gases before the world is set on fire.

Beyond the Brink focuses on California’s San Joaquin Valley and the ever-increasing difficulties for farmers and the local produce industry due to draught and water scarcity. The San Joaquin Valley is representative of a global crisis due to dwindling sources of agriculture around the planet. As these agricultural “food baskets” become increasingly unable to produce for its dramatically growing population, the critical ramifications on the social fabric and our national security become obvious.
